Passenger Comfort Systems

Armstrong Aerospace / Jamco – USA: PowerBar and PowerBox Off-Seat Solutions 90% of all US travelers bring a personal electronic device onboard the aircraft. But with average laptop battery life less than 2 hours and a 33% decrease in battery life when wi-fi is enabled, “power management” becomes very difficult up in the air. At the same time, implementing in-seat power is complicated for airlines. PowerBar and PowerBox Off-Seat Power Solutions provide in-seat power without requiring modification or recertification of existing seats. It is completely separate from the seat and meets all FAA requirements. Installation can take place in short time. The device is Airbus and Boeing compatible and installs directly to the seat tracks with no contact with the seat leg. It also has a clean, integrated appearance. Thus, it has no conflict with the dynamic deformations/deflections of the seats.

The PowerBox design was nominated as one of the finalists for the Chrystal Cabin Award, an award given out every year at the Hamburg Aircraft Interior Show for innovative products and great design.
